The sport of target pistol shooting encompasses many different types of pistol target shooting, each based on a different internationally defined competition. These different types of shooting are referred to as different shooting disciplines. New Zealand rules for each discipline are based on the international rules. There are many different disciplines and you can search them on google.com and youtube.com.
Each pistol club in New Zealand will focus on a limited number of the possible disciplines based on the interest of the membership base and the availability of trainers. The Levin Pistol Club likewise focuses on a limited number of disciplines, each of which has a page describing it here. Senior club members can refer you to the person responsible for each discipline at the club. If you are interested in helping the club become established in a new disciplines in which you have experience, talk to the secretary.
